Sustainability at Prestonfield

Sustainability at Prestonfield is about encouraging children to approach their school and home life in a socially just, sustainable and equitable manner. Across the school, children are taught about the importance of recycling, the negative impact of littering, reducing energy wastage by turning off lights as well as the importance of being global citizens and having an awareness of issues facing not just the UK but the world as a whole.

We have our amazing Prestonfield Equalities Alliance (PEAs) that are focusing on anti-racism and promoting equality for all and also individual classes are developing an understanding of current issues, such as plastic pollution, rainforest degradation and climate change.

Outdoor learning is an important part of our curriculum and children regularly are outside exploring and learning about our natural environment and also working towards goals such as the John Muir award. We also have 5 Green Flags (Keep Scotland Beautiful) and are constantly working towards children having a greater understanding of the United Nation’s  Global Goals .
